The sixth season is split into two parts: the first was released in mid November and covered the tragedy of the late people’s princess, Diana, and her love affair with Dodi Fayed; while the second part was released on December 14, introducing a young Wills and Kate to the screen.

Neither Kate or William need an introduction, as many fans have closely followed their fairy-tale love story from their early days to their colossal 2011 wedding.

So, who’s the woman who has taken on the role of Kate Middleton?

Here’s what we know about Meg Bellamy – aka Kate in The Crown.

Meg Bellamy is a rising star

Some viewers may be surprised to hear that, despite being a total newcomer to the film and TV industry, Bellamy managed to score the role of a lifetime. As per her IMDB, she only has one acting credit to date in the short film The Prince of Savile Row.

She is joined by Ed McVey, who plays William in the Netflix show.

She was working at Legoland when she found out she got The Crown gig

Nevertheless, dreams do come true for some. Bellamy told The Sunday Times that she was working as a mascot at Legoland when she found out that she’d gotten the part of Kate Middleton. She said: “I felt my phone ringing in my pocket and knew it was [producer of the show] Kate [Bone] because I’d been expecting her call for days …”

“But I couldn’t answer it because I was working at Legoland, in character! Eventually I got out of my costume and rushed to the delivery car park, which is quite scuzzy, all the delivery lorries are beeping and reversing in, to phone her back …”

Bellamy, who had no prior experience in acting, applied for the gig after seeing a post on The Crown’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, per Evening Standard.

She grew up near Kate Middleton’s village

But the 21-year-old has more in common with Middleton than physical appearance. She reportedly grew up about 35km from Berkshire, where the real-life princess was raised.

Who is Prince William’s alleged ‘mistress’, Rose Hanbury?

She was never too invested in the royal family

Despite playing a coveted role of a princess beloved in her nation, Bellamy was never too invested in the royals.

“I’m not sure I had any really strong feelings about them,” she told The Telegraph. “But I remember key events, like Kate and Will’s wedding. I was at home and my mum had a little party. Us kids were more interested in the cake, but I remember saying, ‘Tell me when they kiss, tell me when they’re on the balcony.’ I sat watching the TV and was totally in awe of her, like we all were.”

Fashion brands love her

High-fashion brands have been quick to swoop in and get first dibs on Bellamy as she emerges into the spotlight. Since news first sprang up around her new role in the hit TV show, she’s attended events for Valentino, Dior and Cartier, and been styled in outfits from Gucci and Stella McCartney, just to name a few, as seen on her Instagram.

She’s a foodie

Bellamy is a foodie at heart!

In her conversation with Interview, she stated, “I’m such a foodie, so I love all sorts of things, especially Thai food. I really love experimenting with different recipes and trying new flavours and methods. Also, pizza.”
